MICHELLE SAMIGOULLINA

I am a multidisciplinary artist born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, specializing in photography, mixed media, and sculpture.

My photographic work focuses on self-portraiture and self-discovery, often using a 4x5 Toyo field camera to create intimate, intentional images. I manipulate these photographs through experimental printing processes, developing an abstract approach to portraiture that invites the viewer to question who—or what—is being represented.

My recent mixed media practice explores themes of time, identity, and the complexity of interpersonal relationships. While I work across many materials, I’m especially drawn to graphite, charcoal, acrylic and oil paint, and airbrush.

My sculptural pieces often combine airbrush techniques with metal and wire, resulting in wearable forms that reflect my deep interest in fashion and its intersections with art.

In addition to my fine art practice, I work across several design disciplines, including interior, fashion, and graphic design—each informing and enriching the others.
